The debate over whether or not UFOs are real can stop. UFO stands for "unidentified flying object," so if it can't be explained as a satellite, aircraft, shooting star or other natural or man-made phenomenon, it's a UFO -- not necessarily an alien spacecraft, but still mysterious. By far the majority of UFO sightings worldwide occur in North America. They tend to cluster around "hotspots" and are especially prevalent in the western states and are almost absent in the South.
